Getting In
This site is kept private behind a password. Once you sign in, your device will remember you — there's no need to log in again each time you return.
The Little Login Animation
The login screen has its own small story, in four parts:
— At first, he's simply there, gesturing toward the password box, inviting you in.
— The moment you tap into the password field, the two of them start dancing together.
— Get the password wrong, and he takes it hard — while she looks away.
— Get it right, and they come together for a hug, with a quiet "Welcome back." appearing beneath them.
Homepage
The front door. A short telling of our story, a set of tiles that lead straight into the main sections — Years, Places, Memories, Letters — and a timeline near the bottom you can scroll and click through to arrive at any year directly.
Years
Every year we've shared, arranged as a vintage clock face. Drag it, scroll it, or search to spin to a particular year, then open it to see its months. Each year carries its own short title and description at the top.
Months
Inside a year, the months fan out like a hand of cards — only the ones that actually hold something appear. Hover, drag, or scroll through them, and open one to step inside.
A Month's Page
The scrapbook page itself — whatever was written about that month, followed by every photo chosen to represent it. Open any photo for a closer look.
Places
A slowly turning globe of everywhere we've been, and everywhere we still mean to go.
— Drag or pinch to rotate and zoom the globe yourself.
— Search a place by name and the globe will fly straight there.
— Visited / Yet to Visit — a toggle between where we've already been and where we're planning to go.
— Each visited place shows how many photos belong to it, and lets you add a photo for it directly.
— Somewhere new we're planning to visit can be pinned to the globe as well.
How Places Works
A place lands on the globe in one of two ways:
— Automatically — once a photo with that place properly matched to the map is added anywhere on the site (through the Library, a memory, or a letter), that place appears as Visited on its own, with nothing extra to do.
— Manually — tap "Add a Place" and give it a name. The site tries to find it for you: if there's exactly one match, that's used right away; if a few places share a similar name, you'll be shown a short list to choose the right one. If it can't find the place at all, you'll be told so, and can place it yourself by tapping directly on the globe where it belongs — the search is a shortcut, not a requirement.
A place added this way starts out as Yet to Visit.
To move a place from Yet to Visit over to Visited, open it and tap "Add Photo" — once a real photo is attached to it, it moves itself over to Visited.
Library
The complete, unfiltered archive — every photo, video, and song we've kept, organized as Years → Months → Photos.
— All · Photos · Videos — the switch at the top shows everything, or only photos, or only videos, still arranged as Years → Months. Your choice is remembered on that device.
— Totals — how many photos and videos there are, for the whole library and for whichever year or month you're browsing.
— Search — find photos and videos by year, month, or place, right from the Library's home screen. Songs aren't part of this search; they have their own inside the Audio folder.
— Videos carry a small ▶ mark on their tile, so they're easy to tell apart from photos.
— Star a photo to feature it, so it appears on that month's page.
— Heart a photo to mark it as part of a Memory.
— Select multiple photos to correct their year, month, or place all at once — with a real place search behind it — or to delete them.
— Audio — every song or recording uploaded anywhere on the site lives in its own dedicated folder, the first tile in the Library whenever "All" is chosen. Search it by a song's name, rename any file there, and play it right from the list.
— Uploading — the "+ Upload Media" button adds photos, videos, or audio straight from your device. Date and place are usually filled in automatically; where they aren't, you can enter them yourself, with a real search to match a place to the map.
Uploading Photos, Videos & Audio
You can add photos, videos, and audio (like a song or a voice note) using the "+ Upload Media" button in the Library, or from any of the "add media" buttons found around the site.
Most common file types work directly — regular photos, regular videos, and any common audio file. If your phone saves photos in a less common format (like HEIC, which many iPhones use) or a video format that doesn't normally play in a browser, the site converts it automatically behind the scenes, so it looks and plays correctly everywhere.
When you upload something, the site tries to read the date and place straight from the file itself, the same way your phone already knows when and where a photo was taken. If that information is there, it fills itself in. If it isn't — or if it's wrong — you can type in the year, month, and place yourself right there on the upload screen, before the file is even added. There's a "Search" button next to the place field too, so what you type gets properly matched to a real place on the map, rather than just saved as plain text.
If you're uploading several files at once and want the same year, month, or place applied to all of them, fill those fields in once and tap "Apply to files missing this" — it fills them in for every file that doesn't already have that information, without touching anything that's already correct.
Whatever a file arrives with isn't final — the year, month, or place can always be corrected afterward too. See "Selecting, Editing & Deleting Photos" below.
Watching Videos
Tap any video — in the Library, a memory, an album, or a letter — to play it. A video filmed upright on a phone plays upright here too, shown whole, never cropped.
— Full screen — use the full-screen button in the video's own controls (the small square in the corner). On a phone, turn it sideways for a video filmed that way.
— In the Library, choose "Videos" at the top to see only videos, still by year and month.
Selecting, Editing & Deleting Photos
From the Library, you can select more than one photo at a time to manage them together.
Tap "Select files" near the top, then tap each photo you'd like to include — a checkmark appears on the ones you've picked. From there:
— Edit details — correct the year, month, or place for everything you've selected, all at once, with the same real place search as during upload.
— Delete — remove everything you've selected. You'll always be asked to confirm first.
Tap "Select files" again (or "Done") to leave selection mode.
Fixing Photos With No Date or Place
Every so often a photo ends up without a proper date or place attached — maybe it came from an old phone, or its information just wasn't readable at the time. Rather than sitting there unfiled, anything like this is gathered together in one place so it's easy to find and fix.
Look for a banner near the top of the Library along the lines of "X photos need details" — tapping it takes you straight to all of them in one list. From there, select the ones you'd like to fix (or all of them) and use "Edit details" to add the missing year, month, or place — same real place search as everywhere else — or delete them if they're not worth keeping.
Memories
Any photo can become a Memory of its own — a hero photo, a quote, and two voice cards side by side, where each of us writes our own account of that moment. A memory's gallery can hold more photos, videos, or a song besides. The Memories tab gathers every one that's been created, with search, and a way to start a new one from any photo in the Library.
Creating a Memory, Both Ways
A memory can be started in two ways:
— From the Library — tap the heart icon on any photo. If there's already a memory from around the same place and month, you'll be asked whether to add this photo to that memory instead of starting a brand new one.
— From the Memories tab — tap "+ Create a Memory" and choose a photo, either from the Library or by uploading something new. The same choice comes up if a nearby memory already exists.
Taking the heart off a photo later never deletes its memory — everything written there stays. A memory is only ever removed with "Remove this memory" on its own page.
Adding More to a Memory
Once a memory exists, you can keep adding to its gallery in two ways:
— From the Memory page itself — open the memory and use "+ Add another photo, video, or song" underneath the gallery.
— From the Library — hearting another photo from the same place and month offers to add it into that existing memory automatically, the same way creating one does.
The memory's main hero photo can also be changed at any time, from its own page.
Letters
An ongoing archive of letters written to one another.
— Each letter holds its own space for both of our replies.
— A song, photo, or video can be attached to any letter — chosen from the Library, or added fresh.
— A letter can be linked to a particular place or date, when it concerns one.
— Search letters by title, preview text, or the place they're linked to.
Albums
Every month becomes an album of its own, gathering that month's featured photos automatically. Fully custom albums can also be built from any photos at all — titled, and added to or trimmed down whenever you like.
Creating an Album, Both Ways
There are two kinds of albums, and they come about differently:
— Month albums happen automatically. Starring a photo in the Library features it for that month, and any month with at least one starred photo becomes its own album — there's no separate "create" step.
— Custom albums are made on purpose. From the Albums tab, tap "+ Create an Album," choose whichever photos you'd like (from the Library, or by uploading new ones), give it a title, and it's created as its own standalone album.
Once a month album exists, taking the star off its photos never makes it disappear — it's only ever removed with "Delete this album" on its own page.
Adding More to an Album
— For a month album — star more photos from the Library within that month, and they join the album automatically.
— For any album — open the album itself and use "+ Add a photo" to bring in more from the Library, or to upload something new. Any photo can also be removed from an album individually, right from that same page.
Notifications
The bell in the top corner keeps a record of recent activity — a new photo, video, or song, a new memory, a reply on a letter — each marked with its own small icon so the kind of update is clear at a glance. Select one to be taken straight to it.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
— Anything you add — a photo, a memory, a letter, an album — remains yours to edit or remove whenever you choose.
— This isn't a finished gift so much as a living one. It's meant to keep growing, whenever there's something worth adding.
— Everything here works just as well on a phone as it does on a computer.
That's everything, for now. If anything ever feels unclear, or a button doesn't quite do what you'd expect — just say so.
